fans. Set in the universe created by the popular "Star Wars" films, the novel opens with Obi-Wan Kenobi as an apprentice to the Jedi master Qui=Gon Jinn. The opening chapter relates the main thrust of the book preceding it in the series, which Obi-Wan saved the life of his friend Bant. However, in order to do this, Obi-Wan had to fight Bruck Chun, a former Jedi student and the other boy accidentally fell to his death. This novel begins with Obi-Wan being called before the Jedi counsel in order to determine if criminal charges should be brought against him. As this is going on, a Jedi experimental pilot program is running into trouble due to the havoc created by sabotage. The Jedi counsel determines that Obi-Wan was not at fault in the death of Bruck Chun and the saboteur is determined to be an industrial spy who was provided with a false identity by some unknown individual working from within the senate and this unknown entity undoubtedly colluded with and aided the saboteur, who subsequently escapes. The plot shifts to 12 years later and Obi-Wan is now an adult with his own apprentice, Anakin Skywalker. The Jedi counsel sends them on their first mission as a master/padawan team to investigate if the residents of a bioship are being brainwashed. (The term "padawan" is the Jedi term for "apprentice.") Obi-Wan and Anakin are surprised to find that the leader of the bioship is Bruck Chuns brother. Furthermore, Brucks father Vox, who blames Obi-Wan for the death of his son, is working for an unscrupulous corporation. They discover that Vox has created the appearance of technical malfunctions in the bioship so that there will be unscheduled at certain planets, with each planet subsequently coming under the control of Voxs employers ...
