this is a description of some of the ways that scientific management have been implemented, but to view scientific management in this way only may be underestimating the value of
the paradigm and the way it has benefited modern business. Despite the high level of criticism it is a model that is still model that is in wide use,
even if it has been adapted in line with other theories of HRM. Examples of scientific management abound, in many areas of the economy there is the breaking down of
tasks it other component parts to manage the transformation process with an organisation. This is true of a wide range of sectors from manufacturing, where this is the predominant model,
even where there are higher levels of automation, to the fast food industry. A visit to a restaurant such as McDonalds will indicate the way in which this method of
operation is still very relevant today to the mass production of goods. Other UK companies also rely on the use of scientific management techniques to make their operations possible. One
such company is Bernard Mathews. Without this approach to operations the company would be unlikely to operate as efficiently and to have been able to cope with the expansive growth
seen over the last fifty years. In order to consider this we need to look at the company and the concept and application of scientific management. In the beginning
Bernard Matthews did not rely on scientific management techniques. The company started in 1950 with a second-hand incubator and 20 Turkey eggs (Bernard Matthews, 2008). The success of the company
was seen very quickly, by 1952 Bernard Matthews produced 3000 Turkey eggs a year, it was at this point the Bernard Matthews moved into turkey farming on a full-time basis
