an ethical decision? In making an ethically-based decision, first of all, I find it useful to precisely define the ethical issue involved. This definition considers any person
or group that the issue affects and what the issues boundaries are. This reflection also considers legal and/or institutional concerns. Next, I research all the relevant facts, which includes consideration
of what facts are known and what is not known. At this point, my focus turns to how the issue can be viewed from various ethical
perspectives and how alternative choices of action are perceived via different ethical perspectives. For example, I consider which option is likely to produce the most benefit and entail the least
amount of deficits. I consider whether various options uphold the principles of fairness and justice and whether options are dutiful to the respect and dignity of the stakeholders involved. After
choosing an option, I then reflect on how I might defend this choice. If it is difficult to defend, I reconsider my choice. However, once having made a choice, action
is eventually taken. Afterward, I reflect on how my choice turned out and, if I could do it over again, the factors that I might change. In this way, it
is my hope and intention to learn from my experiences. It is only human to be wrong, but a professional should learn from error so that mistakes will not be
