need to possess religious freedom. That need, however, seems to have altered over the past few decades as we incorporate all religions into our nations society. As such we see
how the word God is often kept from being mentioned in politics and in schools, yet at the same time people expect the nations leader to have a religious faith.
It is a very comlex and delicate subject yet a subject that must be addressed as our rights to religious freedom must be upheld and respected. The following paper examines
some of the elements of the problem today. Religious Freedom One of the most recent issues to arise concerning religious freedom is the right to not follow any
religion or to fight against religion in schools and in politics. The most recent outrage invovled taking the word God out of the pledge of allegiance. One man chose to
fight this word in the pledge stating that he did not beleive, nor did his daughter, and that they should not have to say it. Much of the problem involved
the fact that this pledge was from the past and the past of this nation was founded on a beleif in God. This case went to court, where all
such cases must go. The political legal system of this nation is where all such matters are ultimately decided. It is also the place that people beleive will bring the
struggle to a point where all freedoms are respected and accepted. We cannot rely on individuals to allow others their freedom of religion. We must instill laws that argue for
all the people and all the religions. People can talk and argue all they want, but it eventually comes down to legislation and our political rulings. Aside from the
