Cash Back Promotion Date: Piggy Bank seeks to design and implement a cash-back incentive for customers. The purposes will be to increase customer use of Piggy Banks credit card products; enhance customers view of the value of Piggy Banks credit products; and enhance Piggy Banks relationships with its business customers. Identified alternatives include offering a cash-back incentive either through (1) traditional retailers or (2) online retailers. At present, traditional retailers not only serve many more customers than online retailers, they also attract the greatest share of revenues from sales. The situation continues to change as online shopping continues to become more secure and more convenient, however, at it is difficult to determine which would be the most beneficial using only superficial assessment. Assignment of hypotheses and statistical analysis can provide a much more useful indication of which promotion type that Piggy Bank should choose. The null hypothesis serves as a "benchmark" indicator of whether changes in conditions result from experimentation or from chance alone (Electronic Statistics Textbook, 2003). A common distinction in statistical analysis is that of the null hypothesis, which should not be rejected if critical value exceeds calculated value. When calculated value is greater than the critical value, however, the researcher should reject the null hypothesis. This means that observed changes can be attributed to the action of the study, whether that action be truly experimental or qualitative in its approach.
