Much like the legal secretary of years ago, paralegals have evolved into being a highly valuable commodity for both the firm as a whole and the individual lawyers, whose workloads are more often than not far beyond their ability to address in a timely fashion. That paralegals now occupy a much greater position of knowledge and application than ever before illustrates the inherent value of their comprehensive contributions. Indeed, one might readily argue how paralegals equate to an extra set of eyes, ears and hands that their lawyers would otherwise not have. This recognition is well documented in Hope Viner Samborns article entitled Legal Aide For Lawyers, which chronicles the multitude of values inherent to paralegals. Interviewing Arthur Greene, author of the book Paralegals, Profitability, and the Future of Your Law Practice, Viner Samborn puts forth the foundation of why the paralegals presence has virtually changed the entire industry.
