The organization develops both software and hardware products and solutions in the global market, with a number of different segments, the client segment deals with the Windows software, the Server and Tools segment deals with products for servers including Microsoft SQL Server, security products as well as developer tools, services and solutions. The Online Services business segment deals with online advertising as well as information services that are offered, including channels, mobile services, the Windows Live Suite, one of the latest innovations here is the Bing search engine. There is also a Microsoft Business Division, this deals with the business software and solutions, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office Project as well as a wide range of other software and solutions including ERP products. The Entertainment and Devices Division deal with the Xbox 360 games console and Zune as well as other software and hardware products, overall it can be seen that the organization has a wide range of interests, and although the organization may be most closely associated with Windows operating systems, there is a high level of diversification within the offering. The company itself may be seen as a relatively new company, but it has been in existence for 35 years; Microsoft was founded in 1975, by two college friends; Bill Gates and Paul Allen (Lesinski, 2006). This started when Gates and Allen were inspired by an article showing the new Altair microcomputer kit which been published in "Popular Electronics". It is after this they wrote the first version of the computer language BASIC for that machine. Later in 1975 Gates left college in order to work full time on developing programming languages for the Altair, along with Allen they moved to New Mexico, so that they could be closer to MITS Computer; ...
