company such as Amazon, it is possible to see how internal and external factors impact on these processes these can include factors such as globalization, technology, innovation, diversity and
ethics. The role of planning in any business is essential, to be successful a business need to be managed with the knowledge of where it wants to be, the
way it wants to compete and the way that the objectives will be reached. When Amazon was first started the underlying plan, formulated by Jeff Bezos expected that there would
be a lead of some time before the company would become profitable. During the startup period Bezo has a vision for the
future, seeing the company is changing the way that the retail environment work. The planning in the initial stages reflected this vision, such as building warehouses that were far too
big for the short term operations of the company, who will protect it as required to accommodate long term growth plan without the need to move to purchase more expensive
real estate. Therefore, planning can be seen as part of the history of Amazon, and it is still taking place very actively.
The external technology of the Internet facilitate the development of the dot com revolution, therefore it was only as a result of external environmental factors that Amazon could be founded
