Haleys high praise of Malcolm and all he stood for is evident from the very first page, a glimpse into the life and times of Malcolm
X that not only offers the reader a biographical view, but also interjections that make it quite clear Malcolm was a man who possessed a great amount of understanding and
intuitiveness. Malcolm Xs perception of his own achievements was straight forward and without redundancy; he was a man who knew what had to be done and proposed he was
the man to accomplish the goal. In fact, the phrase "make it plain" symbolizes the very core of Malcolms ideals: keep it short and to the point. Malcolm
often used this phrase, said follower Benjamin Karim, as a type of code when he was to speak before the public. In an attempt to tone down any excess
chatter, he would encourage those who were introducing him to cut out the small talk and get right to the point without means of any undue ceremony.
