candidate in Florida said that he even called the FBI as he had evidence regarding exactly how the election was fixed (Fund, 2004). But Fisher was not alone in his anger and frustration. Many people thought that the election was unfair and that Gore had the popular vote so he should be the president. Of course, such a suggestion is ludicrous and suggests that the people are ignorant of the great compromise that created the needed electoral college in the first place. But Fisher is simply one individual who represents other liberal activists who cannot accept the Bush win (2004). Fast forward to 2005 and Bush had done it again. He beat Kerry but by a larger margin than what he did in 2004. In that election, it came down to one state as well. Again, the race was close. Republicans have seemingly done well in recent years and so the Democrats are forced to reconsider how the party can become more competitive in the future. The Republicans went through a similar process during the 1960s, which led to strategies and policies and a string of successes beginning with the Reagan eighties. It is of course memorable that during the 1960s that the ideological tide had changed. Young people were protesting the Vietnam War, and values were rapidly changing. Although it was not the first sexual revolution in the context of time, and would not be the last, it invited new ways of living. Since that time, people cohabit without benefit of marriage and are openly gay, a term that had no real meaning at the time.
