A Source Homers Iliad and Virgils Aeneid Compared By Anastasia, for - March, 2000 -- for more information on using
this paper properly! Homers Iliad and Virgils Aeneid have been compared previously. Yet, what is most interesting is that while one can compare the plots, primary
characters and literary techniques used by these authors, there are more obscure observations which may be made. For example, while the epics are serious works involving war and love, there
is a subtle humor interjected in each. Further, themes really are more pertinent to love and lust than to the actual acts of war. If it were not for
the women in the works, the men would not have to fight and this point alone provides support for the supposition that the tales are indeed about love and affection.
Finally, another common element is that similar techniques were used by the authors. While one can contrast the works, as there are differences in style and technique, the Iliad and
Aeneid are very much alike. The thesis of this paper is that, with the supposition that those likenesses are truly contained in the works, both The Iliad and The Aeneid
are not primarily about war. The love element is significantly greater. In exploring Virgils Aeneid, it is perhaps the metamorphosis of the protagonist that is so intriguing. The plot, in
some ways may be compared to Homers Iliad. In The Aeneid, a man named Aeneas looks for a new place to build a city. His nemesis is a goddess
