of the World Health Organization (WHO) emerged from the Ottawa Charter in 1986 and identifies three primary strategies for health promotion. They are: * Advocating "for health to create
the essential conditions for health; * "Enabling all people to achieve their full health potential; and * "Mediating between the different interests in society in the pursuit of health" (Premik,
et al., n.d.; p. 42). Thus health promotion strives to address existing or emergent public health issues as it builds or contributes to
sustainable development relative to public health policy; advocates for supportive environments that can improve living conditions; supports healthy lifestyles; and improves general health conditions for future generations (Premik, et al.,
