end, the audience is well aware that Claudius awareness is superior to that of Hamlets; prior to that time, Hamlets awareness had been superior to that of Claudius but over
time, the main characters awareness fades. In fact, Hamlet had become rather mad. The characters deterioration is obvious. It is no wonder that Claudius becomes more aware, particularly at
the end, because when compared with Hamlet, he is superior in terms of his sanity. Yet, Hamlet is brilliant in his own right and throughout the play had provided a
great deal of insights. He was certainly superior to Claudius and had indeed foiled all attempts lodged against him in the past. In Act V Scene II for
example, Hamlet is talking to one of the courtiers and it is clear that he has lost his edge. Hamlet says: "Sir, his definement suffers no perdition in you; though,
I know, to divine him inventorially would dizzy the arithmetic of memory, and yet but yaw neither, in respect of his quick sail. But in the verity of extolment, I
take him to be a soul of great article; and his infusion of such dearth and rareness, as, to make true diction of him, his semblable is his mirror; and
who else would trace him, his umbrage, nothing more" (Shakespeare 202). Hamlet is resigned to his fate by this time. In the past, Hamlet would speak with more emotion. Hamlet
has, by the time the play ends, lost his initial fervor. In examining this issue, what is the fatal lapse or misjudgment on the part of Hamlet? Why does the
