Introduction The concept of supply chain management may appear to be static, but the reality is that it is a dynamic and changing concept. When Forrester (1958) first proposed what is not the concept of supply chain management with the argument that after research forward looking, man anger would be able to gain advantages from the way that interdependent relationships with the suppliers and the market were managed. This was not termed as supply chain management but the concepts may be seen as the underlying concepts that have lead to what is seen as supply china management today. The undertaking of supply chain management has attracted a great deal of attention over the years, especially into the 1990s as costs associated with the supply chain started to rise and there were pressures for increased efficiency (Thompson, 2007). Over the years issues discussed in supply chain management have reflected the broader issues within the business environment. With an increased perception of the importance of environmental damage issues associated with green supply chain management are coming to the fore, especially as many of the projects and policies associated with the greening of the supply chain can be associated with economic savings (Rao, 2007; Esty and Winston, 2006) 2.
