Lifelong learning skills, or the ability to continually learn during ones life. This requires knowing how to access information (Huenda, 2001). Interactive computer programs, CD-ROMs and televisions allow anyone to continually update their knowledge and skill. 2. Personal development attitudes, including being responsive and accountable, being an effective communicator, being able to work successfully in teams, having perseverance, possessing the ability and aptitude to use information and communication technology and using time and other resources effectively (Huenda, 2001). 3. Higher order, or complex thinking skills, such as creative decision making skills, having analytical and critical thinking skills, being able to synthesize and generalize, being able to sift through massive amounts of information efficiently (Huenda, 2001). 4. Basic skills of reading, writing, and mathematics. Despite the advent of communication technology, these are basic skills that will be needed of all students (Huenda, 2001). People will read for pleasure as well as for gaining knowledge and information. 5. Arts and Culture will become more important as the world becomes more machine-oriented. With advancing technology, students will be able to access arts in their own homes from their own computers and interactive televisions. 6. Technology. Although children will come to school already adept with using a great deal of information technology, education can provide advanced skills and knowledge. 7. Social Studies. No longer will students be confined to books and CD-ROMs for learning. Interactive computers and televisions allows the student to be right there in any country to see it and listen to political discussions. Advanced technology will play a key role in all of the above.
