HHH assessed several of its business processes and identified several projects that appeared to be relevant and needed. Two emerged as priority needs. One of these is a Human Resources function; the second addresses customer service. Human Resources In the human resources (HR) function of employee administration, the proposed project would provide a self-service feature whereby employees can view most of their personal records and make modifications in selected areas. Requests of HR generally are not critical and so tend to take lower priority when compared to the demands of revenue-generating activities. The addition of another office employee could solve the problem in the short term while also supplying extra help for other office duties. Although employee requests are important to the company, an additional employee will require additional payroll taxes and benefits costs that are difficult to justify. The total first-year cost of the proposed project is well under a years salary and benefits cost of another employee; the proposed project increases internal operational efficiency. Customer Service Most home health and hospice patients are over the age of 65, and the medications their physicians prescribe for them can change frequently. As drugs increase in number, they narrow in focus and applicability but patients often have less direct knowledge of the drugs prescribed for them because so many of the drugs are relatively new to patients. Analysis reveals that patients would appreciate reinforcement of the information their visiting nurses provide.
