The population of South Korea is nearly 47 million, which is more than twice the population of North Korea (Horsfall, Koh and Shin, nd). As in most countries, industrialization brought significant migration to metropolitan areas (Horsfall, Koh and Shin, nd). Seoul, for example, has a population of 10 million (Horsfall, Koh and Shin, nd). Also, as is true with most of the world, the population in South Korea is aging with more and more of the people being over the age of 65 (Horsfall, Koh and Shin, nd). Since the population is aging, people have become more conscious of physical fitness and health issues. Long years are not worthwhile without a certain degree of quality of life. Thus, more people have joined the many across the world in exercising and pursuing physical fitness activities.
