the police chiefs son The officer at the traffic stop probably should be offered a "heads up" given past history. The officer needs to know his immediate supervisor provides support, but also that he shares available information. If the son is disrespectful and reckless, then it is quite possible that he could cause serious problems on the streets if he is not contained. No one is - or at least should be - above the law. Kant holds that the morality of decisions is not based on outcome, but rather on the intentions of the decision maker. Moral choices are those that reflect admirable intent and adherence to duty. "When we follow our duty, we are behaving morally. When we fail to follow our duty, we are behaving immorally" (Deontological, Teleological and Virtue Ethics, n.d.). Kants bottom-line position is that individuals should act from the "categorical imperative."
