lifestyles. Our world is currently facing numerous problems which make these considerations imperative if our planet is to survive. These problems include the depletion of our resources as a result of the heavy demands we place upon them as part of our energy-intensive lifestyles and the pollution to other resources as a result of those same lifestyles. We are experiencing ozone depletion, water and air pollution and congestion as we have never experienced it before. To address these problems we must implement changes to our lifestyles. Many of these changes must revolve around the types and quantity of energy we choose to utilize as well as around many other aspects of our modern life. As our environmental situation grows worse and the outlook for the future begins to look more and more bleak, people are finally beginning to set up and take notice of just how much our addiction to the petroleum products which fuel so many aspects of our lives is costing us as individuals, how much its costing our communities and how much its costing our world. The emission of wastes products from our consumption of fossil fuel makes acid rain and global warming very real hazards, the effects of which we are currently experiencing and which will continue to grow in their impact. Additional effects of fossil fuel dependence are even more straightforward. The ecological complexity of natural areas which have been mined for their fossil fuels or dammed to generate hydroelectric power is no more. Mining and damning do irreparable damages to the worlds critical ecosystem. One of the major contributors to air pollution is the family automobile.
