thesis is presented that given the importance of technology in our modern world the emphasis on technological utilization should be a principle area of focus in all classrooms. The
author supports this thesis with observations on how our world has evolved to have more and more of a technological emphasis yet not all students have equal access to that
technology either in their schools or in their homes. The teachers job, in part, is to rectify this inequality in access by emphasizing technology as a primary in principle
in teaching methodology
Technology is becoming a more and more prevalent element of the educational environment. This resource, however, is not only not consistent across schools but also
not consistently utilized in those schools that do have extensive technological resources. To further complicate the issue, not all students have access to technology at home. In August
2000, in fact, only forty-one percent of U.S. households had Internet access (U.S. Department of Commerce, 2000). The dichotomy that results in terms of social advantages is more than
apparent and this dichotomy extends beyond the individual to the community and to the nation as a whole. Teachers are left to pick up the pieces in their emphasis
on and utilization of the technological resources they have at their disposal. The thesis might be presented, in fact, that:
