Some are preserved in a written format but others are preserved in the archaeology of the land. This record has illuminated many aspects of a culture which otherwise might have been completely lost. It points to the existence of a central government. It also illuminates a strong social stratification. These two aspects of ancient Egyptian culture can be credited with wielding tremendous impact on surrounding cultures. While most of this impact was overwhelmingly positive, there are certain negative aspects of that influence as well which are worthy of note. Many aspects of ancient Egyptian culture can be credited to the strong social stratification which was at play during those times. That stratification thrived because of the vivid contrast between the most powerful and the most weak in Egyptian society. The record which ancient Egyptians have left behind is one which emphasizes the fact of a multitude of influences from a diversity of cultures, influences which were a two way street of exchange. Not only did the Egyptians influence other cultures, they were also influenced by other cultures. One of the most positive influences ancient Egypt had on its surrounding neighbors came in the arts. We have many examples of that art remaining today. Egypt is still replete with many ancient wonders. Her dry environment has preserved many of her ancient monuments and temples into the present.
