Back then hed have been looking at the world through the narrow slats of a locker. Chris forced himself to look at the man standing in the next cell, the bars keeping the mans body from coming through, but not the spit. Here, the bars are being used symbolically. Chris is locked up in a jail cell, but he is also very confined inside his mind and emotions. The sound of the mans saliva smacking him in the forehead broke him from his self induced stupor. Chris stood and glared at the man. The dim light offered little definition to the mans face, but the smell of stale body odor was overwhelming. "Listen piss for brains, I dont have to talk to you and you dont have to talk to me. Got it?"
