determinants as geometry, unity and harmony. In recent years chaos theory and complexity theory have challenged such Euclidean notions of order, and proposed instead a celebration of a hidden order. In the following paper we present an examination of the vision and place of order in Le Corbusiers architecture and urban design. The paper then discusses new reinterpretations of order in the work of current architecture as it relates to finding that hidden order through the use of various theories. Le Corbusier "Le Corbusier is probably the most famous and certainly the most controversial architect of the twentieth century. His impact on the urban fabric around us and on the way we live has been gigantic because of the richness and variety of his work and his passionately expressed philosophy of architecture" (Le Corbusier: Kenneth Frampton, 2002). We find that when we look through his long life we find that there are "certain recurrent themes - his perennial drive toward new types of dwelling, from the early white villas to the Uit? dHabitation at Marseille; his evolving concepts of urban form, including the Plan Voisin of 1925 with its cruciform towers imposed on the city of Paris and his work at Chandigarh in India; and his belief in a new technocratic order" (Le Corbusier: Kenneth Frampton, 2002). According to one particular author we find that, perhaps, "One can not precisely pin-down an explicit theory with Le Corbusier, either through a treatise such as Vers une architecture, or through a single building such as the Villa Savoye. However, by looking at them both, and by looking at them in multiple focused ways, one can begin to acquire an understanding and appreciation of the ideas at work" (Korzilius, 2002).
