This voice is not one of a great philosopher, or a great writer, or even an adult" (Maxson Report.htm). It is the voice of Anne Frank, a "young, lonely girl that cries out to the world...This young girl created in her diary a work of drama that rivals any written by the masters" (Maxson Report.htm). Her story begins and ends in just a few short years. They are the years of growth as she came into her teen years and developed into a woman. In the following paper we examine her growth and maturity, detailing her personality and immaturity in the beginning, how reality began to set in and she began to grow, and then illustrating how much of her childhood vanishes by 1944. Anne Frank: The Beginning In the very beginning of Annes story we see her receiving this diary and immersing herself in it and in fantasy. She describes her family, and often refers to her father and her love of him. She gives us the clear picture of a young girl who is completely infatuated with her father, thinking he is like a superman and capable of anything. This is very typical of a young girl, for she feels she is in competition with her mother and her sister in vying for the affections of her father. She even believes that her father loves her more than his wife. We can also see her innocence in her discussion of the situations around her as she tries to understand the position of Jews and the impending war and its effects upon her family.
