Hypothesizing that the media have anything but its subjects best interest in mind, one can readily surmise that this postulation is based in truth. Indeed, this is particularly applicable with regard to news coverage of the homeless and racial strife. One must ask oneself why the news media focus so much upon the situations indigence and intolerance rather than concentrating upon providing the public with helpful information on how to help? Is it perhaps that news coverage of homelessness and racial strife is utilized more as a public interest story instead of one that might actually aid in the ultimate resolution of such overwhelming poverty and ethnic relations?
