There are new attitudes sweeping health care as we know it (Ciole, 1999). The Internet is certainly one of the catalysts for this new awareness among consumers (Ciole, 1999). They can research anything and they are no longer willing to just take the health care providers word for it. Furthermore, both consumers and health care providers are tired of huge health maintenance organizations dictating what the providers can and can not do (Ciole, 1999). Competitors are finding ways to work together in more collaborative ways, a process and approach that is referred to as co-opetition (Ciole, 1999). The explosion in the senior population is one aspect of these changes and of future changes in the system (Ciole, 1999). The new group of seniors are not likely to allow HMOs dictate their health care access (Ciole, 1999). Even todays senior citizens do not want to be put away and forgotten. They want the appropriate health care and assistive services they need to continue leading their own lives (USP Business Development, 2006). They want to research and read about their own conditions and they want guidance to improve their conditions and diseases Canton (2007) reminds the reader that technology has changed everything. The advances in medical science combined with technology "are revolutionizing healthcare and medicine" (Canton, 2007).
