A 5 page paper outlining the statistics surrounding domestic abuse. Notes that although domestic abuse is not a new component of our society, it is one which has seemingly become a more prominent component in recent years. As a consequence, the concept of the battered woman has now entered the courtroom not solely as a description of a plaintiff but as a defense strategy for a women who has committed a violent crime as a result of the psychological trauma to which she has been subjected.
