of the conservative Republican Party. The Republicans want the world to believe in trickle down economics along with the idea that anyone in society can prosper. Yet, millions of people want to just make ends meet and find it incredibility difficult. To a large extent the reasons seem to be tied to the capitalist system that has no safeguards. It is something that Karl Marx argued in the nineteenth century and todays economy is certainly proof of that. Indeed, the business owners prosper while people scramble to make a living. During the early part of the twentieth century, big labor or unionism was ever-present. It was a part and parcel of society. It allowed the poor and middle class to move ahead. Things were going well. However, as soon as Reaganomics became mainstream, the decade of greed began. People thrived on the idea that they too could be overnight millionaires. Some did prosper, but what was to ensue would be a long spiral on a downward path. The primary reason was economic. There would be a bubble at the end of the decade of perceived prosperity, one that burst in 1987 in the form of a stock market crash. The next recession of the early 1990s would be followed by some prosperity, but again, things would go downhill and in the early 2000s there are many people struggling to make ends meet. On the other end of the spectrum are the wealthy who continue to prosper as they have already amassed wealth. As long as they do not lose it in the market or some other ill advised endeavor, they will continue to be rich and will gain from any economy. The poor remain poor because they are not provided with the opportunities to make a living wage. ...
