argue that men and women have the same opportunities and are generally treated the same. However, there is a great deal of counter argument, backed by statistics quite often, that
indicates women are not treated equally in the workplace, and they do not receive many of the same opportunities or benefits that men receive. The following paper argues that in
many ways women are not treated as equals in the workplace. Women Not Equal in the Workplace In examining how women
are not treated equally in the workplace this paper focuses separately on various articles that offer up different viewpoints. In doing so the paper will offer different perspectives and different
conditions that point to how women are not the same, nor are they treated the same in terms of equality in the workplace.
One author notes an important fact when stating how, "Women practitioners are pleased with the progress they have made in the legal profession over the past few decades, but
many believe that the glass ceiling and other barriers to equality continue to permeate the field" (Lore, 2006; NA). The glass ceiling is a term that refers to the fact
that women can only go so high in their field of employment and no further, no matter what they do. They will never go above the glass ceiling where men
are often allowed. In this particular article it notes that there are many studies which indicate "that most partners in private law
firms are men, male lawyers earn more than females, very few women are managing large law firms and experienced women lawyers are leaving firms at a higher rate than men"
