Essay / Research Paper Abstract

6 pages in length. Once the Constitution had been finalized in September by the Constitutional Convention in 1787, it had to be ratified by specially elected conventions in each of the states. In some cases there occurred much debate and close votes for ratification, but eventually all thirteen of the original states opted for the Constitution. One can, therefore, readily assume that in Virginia there were questions raised by convention delegates regarding fears of their class interest, as well as their state's interests. When one hypothetically examines Virginia initially receiving the Constitution and the questions most likely raised by a document radically departed from the previous Articles of Confederation, one might readily surmise that the class interests in question had much to do with the upper echelon.
