Rodgers, March 2011 To Use This Paper Properly, Please Introduction Macbeth by William Shakespeare is one of his most powerful and insightful plays as it illustrates human weakness and corruption. Throughout this story the characters of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth go through incredibly intense transformations, primarily at the hands of Lady Macbeth who is very eager to be possessed of power. The following paper examines their transformations and breaks the transformation down into various themes. Transformation and Themes in Macbeth In the beginning of this story Macbeth is informed that he will one day become king and he is perfectly happy with allowing things to take their course. Lady Macbeth is far more excited about the future and thus her powerful transformation involves a great deal of coercion, aggression, belittling, and manipulation to make things happen. Macbeth, being a loyal husband, and perhaps an easily manipulated husband, goes through more destructive transformations as he concedes to her will. Throughout their individual transformations are various themes, as further detailed in the remainder of the essay.
