compared to just one generation ago, we can clearly see that technology is becoming indispensable in our world, and will continue to be a vital component of our world in the future as well. Therefore, the integration of education and technology is an important matter, and correlates with a number of important issues. There is an obvious need to understand how to best use technology in todays classrooms and to highlight its intent. While technology is currently being integrated into most classrooms, there is mounting evidence to suggest that it could be integrated more effectively, thus producing more effective outcomes for both students and administrators. Technology in Classrooms Today Today, over 90 percent of schools have Internet access, and over half the schools in the U.S. provide their teachers with an e-mail account (Slowinski, 2003). Clearly, both the world and educators are becoming more reliant upon technology, and therefore students are becoming increasing responsible for being adept at the use of this technology (Slowinski, 2003). However, the importance of administrators who thoughtfully and insightfully integrate technology into classroom settings garners even more importance, in light of the potentials for misuse of technology as well (Slowinski, 2003). Continued advancements in technology have fundamentally changed the way we work and live. Todays educators have unlimited opportunities to more broadly apply our powerful technological tools and change the way students of all ages are learning. Yet, there continues to remain a consensus among business leaders, parents, and educators that our current educational practices do not prepare students to thrive in our ever-changing technological society.
