textile industry, innovations taking place within it and plans for the future. Today’s textile
industry holds promise, but it also serves as a warning to others. The textile industry of earlier
days failed to recognize trends and the emerging competitive nature that business has now
fully developed. At a time when all other US manufacturing was realigning itself with the
needs of the day and of the future, many textile producers failed to act in time. In this, the
textile industry can now serve as a model for others, regardless of the host nation in which
