The Siberian Tiger The Siberian Tiger is a member of the cat family and its name is Panthera tigris altaica. It lives in very specific locations around the world. "Around 80% of Siberian tigers live within the coniferous, scrub oak and birch woodlands of the Primorski Krai region of Russia (eastern Russia), with low numbers also being found in northeast China and northern North Korea" (Siberian Tiger). The adult male Siberian tiger can weigh as much as 1000 pounds although normally they weigh around 650, with females weighing approximately 350 pounds (Tigerhomes.org). They can measure as long as 10 and a half feet in length (Tigerhomes.org). "Altaicias orange coat is paler than that of the other four living subspecies. With widely spaced brown stripes vs. the narrowly spaced dark black stripes found on the other subspecies" (Tigerhomes.org). They also have a white belly and white fur around the neck (Tigerhomes.org). They are generally loners and they cover a lot of territory as they hunt for wild boar and elk (Tigerhomes.org). They can live up to around 25 years in the wild (Siberian Tiger). Their mating season lasts from about December to January and the gestation period is approximately 3 or 3 and a half months (Siberian Tiger). They generally give birth to three or four cubs which are born blind (Siberian Tiger).
