INTRODUCTION A number of comparable psychological assessments have been developed over the last two decades to determine personality characteristics and assess particular behavioral manifestations of psychopathology. Among these commonly utilized tests are the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), 2nd Edition, the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-3 and the MMPI-A, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory for Adolescents. These assessments have been created to view personality characteristics in a comparative manner and assess specific characteristics as they can relate to the DSM-IV classifications for personality disorders and the related psychopathology. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2) is a 60-90 minute assessment instrument based in the earlier MMPI, which has been readily used by mental health professionals as a means of assessing psychopathology in varied client settings (NCS, 1998). Published in 1989, the MMPI-2 was a revised version of the MMPI created in the 1940s by Starke R. Hathaway and J. Charnley McKinley (NCS, 1998).
