three years of exhaustive research into the exclusive family business known as La Cosa Nostra. Despite its subject matter which immediately assured it of bestseller status (which is the reason

crime families were difficult to follow, and the many characters further confused the plot structure. The emphasis was firmly on the Corleone clan in both the novel and ensuing
