Author and theologian Vigen Guroian is highly opposed to euthanasia, though he is not opposed to allowing a person – any person – to die with dignity. For Guroian, dying with dignity does not include pursuing every heroic attempt to apply every known technological tool in seeking to prolong life. Rather, dying with dignity can and often does include being allowed to die from the patient perspective. At the time of her death, Baby Rena was an 18-month-old child suffering from AIDS and heart disease. Baby Rena had been abandoned by her natural mother and had
been placed in foster care. Her foster parents were deeply religious people and believed that they were to battle against the "spirits of infirmity" that they believed were responsible
for Baby Renas physical condition. They were to believe for the childs healing, and in the meantime ensure that she receive every effort to keep her in the physical
world. Euthanasia was unthinkable. For his part, author and theologian Vigen Guroian also is highly opposed to euthanasia, though he is not
opposed to allowing a person - any person - to die with dignity. For Guroian, dying with dignity does not include pursuing every heroic attempt to apply every known
