future as well as recommendations for future strategies for the company. HISTORY OF COCA-COLA Coca-Cola was truly born in 1894 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. It had been sold locally
since 1886, but when storeowner Joseph A. Biedenharn began bottling it that is when the sales really began to grow. The Coca-Cola Company is known to be the largest
manufacturer, distributor and marketer of soft drink concentrates and syrups not only in the United States but in the world as well. The major business of the Coca-Cola is
the manufacture and sale of nonalcoholic beverages, these mostly being soft drinks but also including noncarbonated beverages such as juice and juice-drink products (Coca-Cola Company Business 2002). Coca-Cola also
manufactures beverage concentrates and syrups and sometimes finished beverages that are sold to bottling and canning operations, authorized fountain wholesalers and some fountain retailers. In addition, Coca-Cola has substantial
ownership interests in numerous bottling and canning operations. They own more than 160 brands of diversified products including such things as soft drinks and noncarbonated beverages, sports drinks, juice
drinks, milk products, water products, teas and coffees (Coca-Cola Company Business 2002). Their mission statement can be summed up as "Through our actions as local citizens, we strive every
