the documented health threats. Diesel fuel emits many toxins as it is burned, and as these are released into the atmosphere, the threat of the toxins injuring the health of people is real. Therefore, it is important to basically understand this process in order to understand how diesel fuel actually does impact the health of an individual. The Health Effects of Diesel Emissions Clearly there is reason to be concerned when it comes to diesel emissions. The world continues to become more and more populated and urban areas are becoming more dense at a rapid rate. This increases all types of pollution and diesel fuel emissions are no different. Therefore, these urban areas are at an even increased risk due simply to the vast number of diesel engines which traverse those areas. Diesel engine exhaust is a mixture of gasses and particles (Health Assessment Document for Diesel Exhaust, 2002, See also The Health Effects of Diesel Emissions, 2002). Furthermore, this exhaust is composed of nitrogen oxides and other fine particles which readily blend into the air when they are released (Health Assessment Document for Diesel Exhaust, 2002). Diesel emissions are more hazardous than emissions from gasoline engines (Auto Pollution, 2002). Studies have found that long-term inhalation exposure to this exhaust does indeed damage the lungs (Health Assessment Document for Diesel Exhaust, 2002, See also The Health Effects of Diesel Emissions, 2002). This damage leads to a greatly increased risk of lung cancer and other diseases of the lungs (Health Assessment Document for Diesel Exhaust, 2002, See also The Health Effects of Diesel Emissions, 2002). ...
