number societal themes are responsible for the contemporary state of world affairs. Those same societal themes are quite probably responsible for the implementation of courses such as that for which this very paper is being written. The most damaging of these themes, in all likelihood, has been our growing tendency towards prejudice and bias. While some might disagree, a brief review of the history of the world reveals a trend toward the domination of just a few people over the masses. Typically these dominating peoples are White and typically they are Christian, facts which are upsetting to many. While there are as many religions in the world as there are cultures, only a few have dominated throughout the centuries. This is an unfortunate reflection of the fact that each religion has numerous distinct contrasts from the others. Most religions chose to not tolerate others. This is particularly true of the Christian religion. Even in our modern world it is apparent that the underlying goal of Christians, particularly White Christians is to convert the masses. To Christians plurality in religion is simply not acceptable. They believe that there is only one acceptable religion and that is theirs. Things are beginning to change in modern society, however, as more and more individuals in power become aware that plurality either in religion or race is not necessarily a bad thing. On the other hand, the noble causes of Christianity and indeed other religions is being replaced by rampant secularism, the desire of the masses for the more worldly things in life regardless of the impact of those things on humanity as a whole.
