lenses and providing cosmetic support to ensure that patients wear the glasses they select. Commonly, optometrists see individuals complaining of visual difficulties, but other ocular health issues are also
within the scope of this practice. These issues include the treating of eye injuries and the diagnosis of any number of degenerative ocular diseases, including glaucoma. Optometry, then,
includes long-term care planning and the management of health concerns relative to degenerative ocular conditions. The broad scope of the duties within this area of medicine, then, requires an understanding
of some of the complex issues related to ocular health. First, individuals practicing optometry must take advantage of the emerging technologies to best serve their client base. Increasingly,
technology has become a beneficial tool in the early diagnosis of degenerative ocular diseases, and this is one measure that optometrists must take to ensure the complete care of their
