Determining our legislative representatives stance on critical issues can sometimes be a complex chore. In Florida this situation seems to be
more complex, in fact, than in other states. There is, apparently, no one site that one can access to pull up your respective senators and representatives views on a
particular issue. There doesnt even appear to be a sincere effort on the part of our senators and representatives to individually make their views and recommendations on particular issues
known. Whether we are considering, for example, the rampant problems which exist in the state in regard to Family and Childrens Services, or the current move towards welfare
reform, or even the progress being made in regard to elderly services, it is difficult to readily determine our senators and representatives stances on these issues. It would seem
that turning to the World Wide Web would quickly identify a site or site where such issues were summarized for each legislative representative. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
Even turning to electronic databases of the popular media does not result in a quick identification of our legislative representatives stance on a particular issue, their voting record, any
bills sponsored, and any recommendations they might have for improvement. The interested voter who is seeking specific information is frequently left only with the option of contacting each of
their legislative representatives independently to supplement the information which can be obtained from other sources. Fortunately, it is rather easy to locate contact information for each representative on the
WWW. Indeed, the option of contacting each representative via e-mail presents a potentially speedy option of obtaining any additional information one would like regarding their legislative representatives track record.
