fading too, even in legal marriages. It used to be that women stayed home with the children and that was an assumption most people made. Today, such models do exist,
but women have choices as to whether to pursue a career or stay home and become a mother. In the film Freedom Writers, the protagonist tries to convince her husband
that it is her time to shine in her field, before she is tied down. She devotes an inordinate amount of hours to her interests, but clearly, this is not
the typical female model. Many men are still the breadwinners and are applauded for putting in too many hours at work, but the same ideal is not held for women.
That said, in the real world, there are many female doctors and lawyers and each likely spent a great deal of time pursing their degrees and putting in their
dues when they would first start working. These fields were traditionally set up for men, but women have entered not only these prestigious fields that demand intelligence and time, but
they also now fight fires, keep order as police officers, and drive race cars. In fact, a recent commercial shows race car driver Danica Patrick being stopped by a police
officer. As the officer comes over, Danica begins to primp, suggesting that she will get out of the speeding ticket because she is a pretty girl. When the motorcycle officer
takes the helmet off, it turns out that the officer is in fact a woman too. Both women exemplify nontraditional female roles, something that creates a comedic moment in the
