SIZE OF MARKET Compared to other countries, Turkeys GDP was not all that substantial in the early part of 1999, as a 0.7 percent growth clearly demonstrated this sluggishness. Compared to 1997, which reflected 8.3 percent growth, 1998 dropped to 3.8 percent (_____, 1999). The size of the computer hardware product market that currently exists in Turkey is in a state of transition, inasmuch as the entire nation bolsters itself for a significant influx of computerization. Indeed, a great deal of technological advancements have occurred over the past few years as a means by which to assist Turkey in catching up to the rest of the computerized world. What is needed at this point, however, is the proper implementation of appropriate computer hardware in order to continue this ongoing growth. While much of this proposed market will likely derive from the United States, it can be argued that a number of other entities will also recognize the opportunity, as well. II. TRANSPORT BARRIERS FOR PRODUCT Computer hardware can be transported a number of ways, being that its composition is neither cumbersome nor restrictive.
