how many people will do anything to obtain that power, or as one individual states, "Macbeths character rests on an internal conflict: he is ambitious, and he is guilty. His ambition is at war with his guilt, and from this conflict springs his story," a story that is universal and timeless (Anonymous The Art of Storytelling: Who Are Your Main Characters? characters.html). Now, although many people put all the blame on Lady Macbeth, we understand that he must take responsibility for his own involvement. While she was surely responsible for some of the demise of Macbeth, the truth is that he possessed a weak character that was not prepared for power, and as such was easily led by the pressures of his wife, pressures which led to his decline and then his eventual recovery. These are all realities that remain incredibly relevant to the condition of mankind, even now, several centuries later. In the following paper we present a creative article which discusses the relevancy of Macbeths story in relationship to the society of 2004, the year when we celebrate Shakespeares 440th birthday. Macbeth Like many individuals in the world, and especially in our society today, Macbeth, in the very beginning of the story, is a simple but truly untested man. He has recently been incredibly successful in a battle and is, to some degree, full of himself. We can envision the modern man as this Macbeth in many ways.
