of these two individuals creates an environment that is less than sane or pleasant. In the following paper we examine some of the elements found in Shakespeares "Macbeth."
Macbeth In first discussing the story of Macbeth we examine how the play offers us a sense of reality and appearance, as well as a sense of corruption. In terms
of reality and appearance the most important perspective concerning these elements is that of the prophecy handed to Macbeth. The prophecy is real and appears to be truth. The witches
have foretold of what will come to pass, that being where Macbeth will be king. This, for all intents and purposes, appears to be incredibly valid and real despite a
small amount of doubt at first on the part of Macbeth. However, the fact that Macbeth cannot wait for the future to arrive leads him to a position involving corruption.
One can easily argue that although he appeared to be a very brave and trustworthy man in the beginning, a man whom others respected and admired for such qualities,
he was also a man who was corrupt from the beginning due to weaknesses. In essence, he was a brave and honorable man when he was not faced with temptation.
And, as such a man he had never truly been tested. People often show their true colors under extreme pressure and under extreme temptation. Macbeth had never been tested and
had, up until the point of the prophecy, only been following orders and living his life without much thought. With the prophecy, however, his true nature was revealed, offering us
