society is quiet relevant in terms of psychology and sociology. Why are certain words acceptable today when years ago were never tolerated? What happened to washing a childs mouth out
with soap? There has in fact been a tolerance of new language that once was banned, but not only that, language gradually changes over time. This is a phenomenon that
has seemingly always existed. New words are included in the dictionary each year, and some terms become obsolete simply because people no longer use them. Much of this occurs naturally.
The use of language can make or break a political career, despite the fact that George W. Bush sometimes seems challenged in this area. Still, language is something that is
aligned with education. One commercial for a product called Verbal Advantage claims that people are judged by the words that they use and that improving vocabulary is very important to
people socially and in respect to their careers. In the field of language acquisition there are a number of theorists of which Lev Vygotsky is one. Vygotsky came up
with the ideas of the Zone of proximal development (ZPD) and scaffolding ("Lev Vygotsky," 2006). Here, this author suggest that there is a difference between what a child can learn
on his own and what can be learned through guidance ("Lev Vygotsky," 2006). Vygotsky (1986) writes: "The discrepancy between a childs actual mental age and the level he reaches in
