Straton, I am very tired of fighting, and will be glad when I reach age 50. That is when the Roman Army takes its older soldiers out of the field
and puts them back on garrison duty (Moerbeek, 1998). We have been fighting this war with Sparta (they call it the Peloponnesian War you know) since 431 and its going
very badly. Im afraid Athens will eventually have to surrender, but please dont tell anyone I said that. Im just very worried. We just lost Thrace, and
were badly beaten at the Battle of Delium. The Thebans led the Boeotian troops and besieged the city of Delium, with many of our men still inside. They held
out for 17 days, but more than 1,000 hoplites were killed and the entire legion is miserable (Suzanne, 1998). I dont know what will happen next and I fear a
possible invasion. I have a favor to ask. You know that my wife Melitta is dedicated to the gods. She loves Zeus, the King of the Gods, and Hera his
wife, and particularly Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom. Our beautiful city is named after her, and Melitta wants to honor her and ask her to keep me safe. She plans
to attend the Thesmophoria, a religious festival for married women only (Graham). She has to prepare a sacrifice to be offered at the festival, and if you could help her
