be a compassionate leader and one who is flexible enough to answer to the needs of a diverse congregation. But what, exactly,
is leadership? In its most basic form, leadership is the ability to somehow motivate a person or people to take some sort of action. In the workplace, such action would
feature an increase in productivity and/or quality. In a religious institution, the leader is able to act as a conduit between the congregation and God; and the leader oversees everything
to ensure that the church remains strong. But are such leaders born or made? The answer here is: it depends. The propensity
to be a leader or follower can certainly be determined by some type of predisposition. For example, if one were to examine a group of toddlers on the playground, one
ultimately emerges as the leader; he or she is the one that everyone listens to and follows when it comes to games and activities. When this leader tot leaves, the
group falls apart, with the other toddlers wandering off. Having said that, leadership can be a learned skill. One can learn how
to motivate people through many methods. But there are those who feel more comfortable leading than following. Those who try to lead and cant quickly find they are no longer
