Obviously, terrorism is nothing new. However, truly powerful international terrorism, from a historical perspective, is relatively new. Due to technology and the capabilities inherently presented through technology terrorism is a serious international concern. For the most part when people think of international terrorism in the United States they think of the threat to the United States and perhaps other democratic nations. The truth, however, is that international terrorism is something that concerns everyone and something that everyone should be concerned about in relationship to the entire world. It is not something that should only worry Americans in relationship to their homeland. It is not something that should only worry the UK as it involves their nations. International terrorism affects everyone and as such is an "international" concern, not a limited national concern. The following paper examines international terrorism and discusses how it is a very important global matter, not just a domestic matter as it involves the United States or other democratic nations. International Terrorism As most people would well assume, it was not really until the powerful attacks of September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States, that people really started to consider the existence, the true and unavoidable existence, of international terrorism. It seems that until then terrorism was considered a very local problem focused on one area of the world or another.
